Urinary in 3D

Explained for every age

For kids (7–11)

Two bean-shaped filters, your kidneys, clean the liquid part of your blood about 60 times a day. What they take out turns into pee and is stored in a bag, the bladder.

For teens (12–16)

Kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra. The kidneys filter about 180 liters of plasma a day and make around 1.5 liters of urine; they regulate water, salts and blood pressure.

Pre-Med (17+)

Retroperitoneal kidneys with ≈ 1 million nephrons each (glomerulus, tubules, nephron loop of Henle, collecting duct). Glomerular filtration ≈ 125 mL/min, tubular reabsorption and secretion, regulation of blood volume and pressure via the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone axis and ADH. Urinary tract: renal pelvis, ureter, bladder, urethra.
